TONY BELLEW will have to wait another two weeks before he can defend his British light heavyweight title against DANNY MCINTOSH, as the challenger is suffering from a chest infection.
The two were set to face off on Friday April 13th but the showdown, titled “The Big Bang”, will now take place on April 27th at the Echo Arena in Bellew’s beloved hometown of Liverpool.
Bellew took to Twitter to vent his frustration at the postponement. He said: “Everything happens for a reason and things are sent to test your resolve, frustrating yes but it’s how you react that determines who you are.”
“The show is also set to feature lightweight sensation SCOTT CARDLE in his second professional fight but he has suffered an injured knee in training along with fellow undercard star JOHN WATSON who has a rib injury.
Fight promoter Dave Coldwell of Coldwell Boxing released a statement on the situation: “Illness and injury cannot be helped and it’s unfortunate as both Tony and Danny have been training hard for the fight,” he said.
“I’m sure Danny will be ready and in great shape on April 27th, and it promises to be a great evening with a cracking card lined up.”
